Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 2026
1. Overview
InstantPreset is a browser-based photo editor that applies film-style presets to your images. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, what we don't, and how we handle it.
2. Local-Only Image Processing
All image processing happens entirely in your browser using client-side WebAssembly technology. Your photos are never uploaded to our servers or any third-party service. We do not have access to your images at any point.
- Images are loaded directly into your browser's memory.
- Filter effects are applied locally via WebAssembly — no network requests are made.
- Exported images are downloaded directly to your device from the browser.
- When you close the tab or navigate away, all image data is discarded.
3. Data We Collect
We collect minimal data to operate the service:
- Local Storage: We store your theme preference (light/dark) and onboarding completion status in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device.
- Authentication (optional): If you choose to sign in, we collect only the information necessary for authentication (email address). This is used solely to provide access to authenticated features.
4. Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect, store, or transmit your photos.
- We do not use tracking cookies or analytics pixels.
- We do not sell or share personal data with third parties.
- We do not build advertising profiles or track your behavior.
5. Third-Party Services
If you choose to sign in with Google, that authentication flow is handled by Google's OAuth service. We only receive your basic profile information (name and email) and do not access any other Google account data. Please review Google's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle your data.
6. Data Security
Because your images are processed entirely in your browser, they are never exposed to network transmission risks. Your photos remain under your control at all times.
7. Children's Privacy
InstantPreset is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
